I signed into Xanga and it was all crazy and different.

I'm in bad, bad shape with money right now.  I have a part-time job at Eastern's bookstore which I really enjoy, but it doesn't give me much income.  I've had three teaching interviews, one of which actually went really well.  Being rejected from Radnor for a long-term sub position sort of pushed me over the edge though - they kind of led me to assume that I had gotten the job and I got all excited, only to have them reject me three days later.  I feel like no one hires me because of my personality.  They all say they want someone charismatic and energetic, and I get too nervous at the interview to portray those kinds of things.  I finally gave up and applied to Philadelphia.  I mean, I gave up.  For now at least.  I'm going to try to start grad school by next Fall.

I can't wait for drum corps to be over!  In three more weeks, I'll have a life again

"In this time of world agony and hopelessness and helplessness, we love his music and we need it. As despairing as we may be, we cannot listen to this 9th symphony without emerging from it changed, enriched, encouraged." -Bernstein on Beethoven's 9th

I love Bernstein as a conductor and composer, but more than anything, just for the way he speaks about music.  He just gets it and he can word it in ways that I never could!  This is him talking about Beethoven's 9th (Ode to Joy) and then conducting it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZJ1Tgf4JL8
